International Visitors to the Jay Peak Area
The Jay Peak area of Vermont has been a secret vacation destination long known by our Quebec friends in the North. As testament to the wonderful skiing and snowboarding at Jay Peak Resort, there are in fact more Canadian season pass holders than American!
Yet, the rest of the world has not realized that with the convenient airport hub in Montreal and its extensive flight network, it is easy to travel to northern Vermont., Just fly to Montreal and then rent a vehicle and drive 1 ½ hours to the border and you have arrived.
Another major access hub to Vermont is through Boston’s Logan Airport where visitors from Europe, the UK and Ireland can enjoy a few days in this historic city and then drive up to Jay Peak and experience the incredible beauty and serenity of our Northeast Kingdom. Another option is to fly into Burlington International Airport and there are almost hourly shuttle flights from New York to Burlington International Airport.
The US Customs and Border Protection work hard to ensure that you have a pleasant experience whilst crossing the border whilst still maintaining security and all international visitors to Vermont are encouraged to know what documentation is required along with any restrictions.
We list in our Travel Tips pages the major points to help with planning your visit to Vermont. Please note that there is no real ground public transport in northern Vermont and so a rental vehicle is mandatory if flying in. A valid driver’s license from the country of citizenship is usually accepted by all of the rental car companies.
